Thread Starter | New ATMOS surround miking system from SPL The new Atmos system is a complete, system independent surround miking system including the ASM5 microphone with the superb Brauner VM1 capsules. The new Atmos Controller incorporates the five channel, remotely controllable preamplifier section, a LFE channel composer with level control and a headphone monitor. The Controller is now focused on basic features and can be complemented with further modules to meet individual demands, such as a remote control for the ASM5 pattern characteristics, and to reduce costs dramatically for a pure, high definition preamp/microphone setup. probably even eight or nine years back, and similar, but not very ... The new Atmos is the update of our old Atmos 5.1 system which was released in 1998 (http://www.soundperformancelab.com/A...n_detail.html). The main difference: The new Atmos is not the fully featured package anymore, and can be complemented with further modules just as needed. Paul

At the show in Frankfurt we will not do "demos" ... on the floor. We'll present the prototype with the known ASM5 mic (Brauner capsules) and a new mic array called SPL Pentarray, build for us by Microtech Gefell. As I wrote already, main difference is that the new Atmos system is reduced to main recording functions (the preamps for example did not change), later in the year we will present further modules. So, it is not a change in quality/technology, but a change of package. Paul
