It did sound really great. Very musical!!!

I'd love to hear it in the context of a mix.

I ran it through some tests at NAMM. Stunning sound, really. Somewhat feeling like the old Quantec Room Simulator, but 100x more detailed. While I did not get the impression that I was in "a real room" (same with Lexicon etc), the tone quality and richness were almost equal to a true chamber or plate.

You could easily listen to just the return (100% wet) and be satisfied with the sound - no grainy high end or wobbly bass. I took the sound from a large dark classical hall (mainly the demo I think they were showing) to a short, tight, fully bright drum room; the same algorythm and it totally satisfied. No glitchy tone or edginess.

I really hope to own one. It would not necessarily replace every other verb (depends more on future algorhythms), but sonically it equals anything I've heard.

I guess this unit is a single stereo pair in and pair out ? You cant use the analogs and digital independently with 2 different verbs?

The 960L might be three times the price, but it gives you four machines on 8 outputs (and the LARC) so it´s a whole different package. I really like the 960L for acoustic music.

Anyway, I am looking forward to checking out the Bricasti, too!

The retail price on a 960L stereo is $16,649.... So, it's more like 4-5 times the price of the Bricasti.

I disagree... there is no absolute "good" or "bad," as much as we'd love to believe that.

A car is fast.

Oh really?

Fast like a 1970's Porsche? Yeah they're are fast, but faster than a new Audi?

And not just fast... what kind of "fast?"

Fast off the line? Fast when you're already doing 90mph?

It's ALL relative.

To this day we're STILL not comparing the "sound" of digital in a vacuum. How many times do you hear about how close or far DAWs are from sounding like tape?

I, for one, would love context to evaluate "good."

The context lies between your ears, and includes them and your experience.

BTW, I find Porsches to be boring. How's that for context.

fast is fast
something can sound bad and be an effect but that dose not make the sound good in the context of good as it was intended or marketed.
to compare the sound in the context of say, is it similar to say a spring, or a plate, that would be a comparison that would have no bearing on the quality but instead a means of description.
a reverb can sound good and sound good period, it may not be what you want, but that will not make it bad, just not applicable.
a reverb can be bad, you may use it as an effect if you need a bad reverb, in this case it also maybe applicable, but, that will not make a good reverb.
yes everything is indeed perceived from ones perspective, this i agree, but a VW would never make a good drag car even if it were to be considered fast in some form of perspective, it aint no top fuel dragster
my harley is fast but only to me most likely
but it would be cool at a drag race though!

I have seen it mentioned that it is great for small spaces, how are its long decay times ? and if not this unit, what is a great verb for big, long (like 20 sec) spaces.

Now before anyone says what do you need that long of a verb for...I am a professional sound designer always on the hunt for awesome "space music" style verbs.

Paul, anyone who would answer your question with "what do you need that long of a verb for", is an amateur.

I'm interested in very long spaces too. And while I haven't heard the M7 yet, I have the feeling it will shine in the area of long RTs as well...

Um... hello, ANY reverb unit IS a comparison by nature... it is an approximation of what happens to sound in a room or against a real plate, in nature, etc.

Therefor, it'll ALL be context and comparison.

How good does it sound? Compared to what... a real room, a real plate, a 480L, Altiverb?

I'll bet all the money in my pockets against ALL the money in your pockets we'll see EXACTLY those kinds of discussions. If just sounding good was enough, then ENTIRE sites like this would not exist.

Care to wager?

How's that for context?

P.S. You live in NYC, since when do drive, let alone a Porsche? kidding

Just got mine

I just bought two. (I know, I'm spoiled-- It's the filmmusic world. I have to do everything in surround.) They were just delivered. Quite awesome. I hooked one up analog and one digital with the same settings just for comparison. Very different sound, but both great. I have a 960 also, so I did compare. Tough comparison. The presets Bricasti are so crystal clear I had to do alot of tweeking to make them comparable to the 960. High fives to the designers.

Hey Alan,

Very nice to have you here. Would you say that the Bricasti is clear like a TC6000? Or more like a Lexicon, but clear?
