What I just learned about Bricasti M7

Yesterday I spoke for 15 min with a guy who records and mixes for the Boston Symphony and Boston Pops -- apparently it's one organization. He's got a beta unit and won't give it back. He said he's never heard a verb so good, and certainly nothing that so seamlessly blends spot mics into existing reverberant spaces.

Since I record acoustic material in live halls and also I want one badly for the very same reason, and to lengthen the tail of nice but small rooms.

I heard:
  • It'll list for $3,600
  • They are negotiating US distribution with Summit Audio
  • Parts are almost all in and the contract manufacturing house is about to start building the first batch

Expensive ?? Do you know how much Lexicon 960 L stereo version is ? 3 times more. And it is very likely this unit will sound yet better ...

I agree- if it sounds that good, $3600 is quite fair.

But I've learned not to get too excited about stuff like this until I have an actual unit to try out myself. I figure realistically, it'll be summer or more before I get one in here to try out (based on the way these things usually go).

Roundbadge and I gave the Briscati a good listen with its designer and it's incredible. It's got the processing power of 100 480L's or something like that. Presents haven't been built yet so we were listening to only one verb; but it was 3D and lush. As far as modern digital reverbs go, this gets my vote.thumbsup thumbsup

elsewhere on the web, they said it'll list in the low $3,000 range. I hope this verb is amazing. I have the TC4000, I wish Lexicon did a 1u stereo version of the 960. This might be the next closest thing.

wow, i dont know about the reverb, but this thing looks JUST like a Mark Levinson nº32 reference preamplifier! (veeeeerrry ezpensive)

the more i look the more i see nothing but a copycat actually. I think the old Levinsons had rack ears too. how odd.

Heh... They told me that Mark Levinson designed the analog front end for it.

Heard it on speakers at the party and I can't wait to give it a go on the stuff I record. Sounded pretty awesome and will work very well for the acoustic stuff that comes through my doors.

I was impressed too....

My feeling is that it very likely RULES for short spaces & reverbs and therefore will become a 'must have' for the R&B mixer crowd. (or any mixer that is a fan of that short stuff)
