Merging releases PCI Express version of Mykerinos

Merging has released a new version of Mykerinos with a great deal more horsepower and best of all it is PCIExpress!

Thank you Merging, this could not have been better timed for us!

I'm not familiar with Merging or their products but I spent a while browsing around their site and there's a labyrinth of stuff that sounds interesting.

Do you have to use these Mykerinos cards (and their Daughter I/O cards) with their own Pyramix DAW software? Or can they be used with other common native software?

Also, am I right in thinking that their stuff is PC only / not Mac?

I'll order a 24 channel AES-EBU I/O card right now if it's Mac/PCIe/Logic compatible.

unfortunatly the boards only work with pyramix. and they onlywork with windows. however i spoke today with a friend of mine that works for merging and he said that the cards have been finished for a while but that they wanted maake sure they worked great with the mac pros before they anounced them. however when i asked him if that merging has finally started to develop for osx he said no.

The Mykerinos cards do come with an ASIO driver. It's not as elegant as some, since it still works with their mixer (you have to build your mixer to configure your I/O and it sits between your Mykerinos card and your DAW.

But it is PC only. It is a great product and it sounds amazing!

Do you have a link for this announcement

Would appreciate additional information on this. I am a Pyramix native user and have been waiting for this upgrade before buying their hardware.

Thanks,
Baithak

It works only with version 5.1 software which was written with the new cards in mind. I haven't heard anything definitive about how much more horsepower there is but some have said in the neighborhood of 30% more power which would make them quite powerful indeed. I've had a hard time finding the limits of my Mykerinos MB5 card, its predecessor, ganged with an earlier MB3.

I believe they work with Nuendo on PCs as well.

I'm hoping the new ones will allow me to make a multichannel DSD rig with one less card than before....8 channels with 3 cards, maybe 16 with 3....

You can read about v5.1 at www.merging.com

Other than the change to PCI-Express and a bump up in DSP I don't think there is anything different about them than what is described in the Mykerinos section of the above site.

Best,
Silas
