Whatever is easiest for you bro, I'll do whatever I can to help you out. I can hear exactly what the issue was with that first mix, you're literally a few Drumagog tweaks away from making that track kick ass.

For all the programmers, I want to talk hi hats with you guys.

Here is what we are doing with hats:

Multi velocity closed hat tight
Multi velocity closed hat medium tight
Multi velocity closed hat medium loose
Multi velocity closed hat loose
Multi velocity hat very loose
Multi velocity hat open to close with stick
Multi velocity pedal hat clamping

all the above sampled THREE TIMES with different stick positions

Let me know what you guys think about this... obviously it would't all be available in the GM kit mode, but in audition mode the all three stick groups would be layed across the keyboard so that you can do whatever you'd like.

Are you doing seperate "shank" and "tip" hits? Also, "bell" vs. "edge?" You mentioned stick positions, just clarifying...

Also, should every hat velocity have it's own "closing" sample? BFD does it well, however they do it would be fine.

Also, with all of this hi hat work, one wonders...when is the Steven Slate Drums VSTi coming out?

foot clamping is what I think you mean by foot splash, we'll have that.

We were going to shank, tip, and then bell hits. Having every velocity have its own closing sample is a great thought, definitely.

Before the Steven Slate VSTi, lets see how everyone does with the sampler VSTi's. The way we are mapping them will make things simple for people who really want to tweak, or for guys who just want to use and customize some GM kits.

Sounds great, Steve! I'm looking forward to it!

Also, will you be doing all of this with a couple of different hi hats, or just one?

We'll probably have two hats. One will be the Z Mastersounds 14s, its a specific pair that I have that to me are the ULTIMATE all purpose hat. They have rich warm harmonics and can do anything from pop to metal. Then we'll have another pair of custom made hats that are a bit higher pitched and more sizzly sounding, better for quicker rock and metal.

I just recieved my disc, and I'm having an odd little problem here on my home computer.

This isn't my DAW computer, so all might be just fine when I get to the studio, but.....right now I'm on an iMac G4 800Mhz machine running OSX 10.4.3

I just wanted to take a look through the folders before going to bed, but each time I put the disc in, the computer just spits it back out.

This was one of the WAV only discs that were on special for $100. These discs aren't PC only are they??

At the studio I'm on a G5 Dual 2.7 running the same operating system

It should not be a PC only, it was pressed to be both Mac and PC compatible. Email me at support@stevenslatedrums.com and we'll help you out.

Just got down to the studio, and all's well. The disc reads just fine in my G5. I wasn't super worried cause the iMac we have at home has always been a bit buggy with its CD drive.

I've only taken a quick listen through......got some bass to record, but so far I can already tell these will be just the ticket for the project I'm currently working on.

Thanks again for all your hard work.

I'll post back after I've gone through one of the songs. This drummer is pretty chaotic, and it's gonna take a while to go through it all.

Hey Bang- a footsplash is when your heel hits the bottom of the hi hat pedal and the hi hat rings out.

The footsplash has its own GM note so its good to have in your collection.

Very cool Daniell, I'll give you a shout, we should probably consult with you on a few things.. You guys are going to flip out when you hear the new drum hits we're doing with Adrian Ost's custom kit and snares, they sound amazing and are being specifically designed so they program perfectly.

We are now in the editing stage of the Adrian Ost (Powerman 5000) expansion drums. These expansion drums are a FREE UPGRADE for CURRENT buyers (so don't think you need to wait if you want the already fantastic hits that are on the disc now)..

Let me tell you guys... just when you think that we've covered every kind of snare sound... Adrian has some rare, vintage, and CUSTOM MADE snares that we sampled the hell out of... they are unreal sounding... one of the drums is a 14 x 10!!! Sounds like AC/DC Back in Black, its just POUNDING. All together including damp/undamp, the Adrian collection will include 10 new snare sounds, 5 new kick sounds, a new 4 tom set. One of the kicks will be another version of the METAL KICK, but we also have another huge 24 inch felty vintage kick being added as well.

The cymbals are near complete, just finishing the hi hats. I'm being VERY meticulous in capturing every harmonic that is released for an ultra smooth and present cymbal sound.

To be clear, once the Adrian Ost pack and the cymbals are done (along with the sampler mappings), the price of the collection WILL go up. If you choose to purchase it now, you will get the initial customer deal and receive it for FREE plus shipping.

I am desperate to get my hands on these, any update news on the Sampler mappings
and editions? - I would even buy Giga, 'cos I could translate that to Logic EXS...

I've been playing around with both Kontakt and EXS, they will definitely be supported. The new Adrian Ost drums are going to blow you guys away, HUGE sounds. His custom 24 inch kick is just breathtaking.

Cymbals are sounding REALLY nice. You guys will be pleased with the results, I'll post teaser audio demos asap.

Nice! Steven sure knows how to treat his customers!

Since I do a lot of modern rock production, and many of these samples seem to be tailored (but certainly not limited) to that, I am interested to hear what you did with the ride and crash cymbals as far as washing goes. I find this is where a lot of programmed drums fall short for me (aside from the hi hat, of course.)

Can't wait for the new expansions! Keep up the good work! thumbsup thumbsup

Steven, I just need to tell you that these drums get FATTER every time I use them. Snare 3 is sooooooo sweet! Its my new go-to snare for most rock now. Did you hit that sample harder onto tape because the attack is so thick. I've also started using kick 2 a lot since I saw that Steve MacMillan is using it, and I have to say, it rocks! I've been getting a lot of comments about my mixes like "that sounds like stuff on the radio" and I know that part of it is my new fat drums.

I can't wait to hear the new expansion drums and cymbals. Let me know when they are ready to beta because my reason chops are pretty tight now and I cannot take the stock drums on that plugin seriously.

Mr. Junk, thanks again for your support. Send me more mixes, can't wait to hear your progress. Snare 3 has really gained popularity, its got a nice thickness and punch to it.

We are working hard on the updates. This is destined to become the LAST drum library you will EVER need, whether you are a mixer who is replacing/augmenting or a programmer who wants realistic sounding, ultra HUGE sounding drums that need no additional tweaking.

Again, people who purchase now get free upgrades which include a cymbal pack, around 10 new custom snares, about 5-6 kicks, another set of toms, and sampler mappings for the popular samplers. Once the upgrade is out, there will be a price increase.

Junk check your PM box.

Any estimate on when the cymbal expansion pack will be released? And the Powerman drums? Is Powerman also a free upgrade for those that participated in the group buy?

Hi there.

So I already have the sample set, and am interested in these new hits. Do they come as a free upgrade, and if so, how do i go about getting them?

Cheers,
Oz

Working hard on the cymbal pack and the Powerman drums, I'm hoping by the first week of April it will be released as the version 2 software... so everything will come together for new customers... for ANY old customers whether you bought in the group buy or wherever, I'll be providing a link to get the upgrade disc for FREE plus a small S&H fee. So you'll be all good.
