When you set up a new session, the prompts will ask you where you want to "save" the session to.

The default these days on Mac OS is to save sessions on the system drive under "documents", but I create my own folder and for hiccup free operation, the session folders are saved on a drive other than the system drive.

Once you find your sessions, you can go under "File" and "Save As" (whatever the session is named) but save it to your new location.

Are you opening PT from the application icon, or from a default project template? If you click on the application icon directly (or it's shortcut), it should prompt you to choose a project location.

To find previous projects, use the "open recent" selection in the file pulldown menu.

When you open an existing session, you are not asked where you want to save it.
Since you just opened it from a location it was saved from, Pro Tools assumes you know where you want it.

After you open the existing session, you go to the "file" pull down menu and select "Save As" IIRC which will allow you to keep the same session name if you desire, but you may now specify a new location to keep the session.

Not sure what version of PT you are running LE, M Powered, HD Native, etc., but if you PM me a # and a good time to call, I can give you a walk through in setting up your DAW as far as it saving your tunes where you want it to and getting your existing stuff there as well.

Your basic problem is you're not au fait with the computer operating system as a whole (I'd try to help, but you haven't even stated if you're running mac or pc).

It's nothing to do with pro tools really - the pro tools saving of data is very simple and straightforward - initially when you name a session, you get one folder with sub folders for audio, session file backups, video files etc. if you don't understand how to find this on your computer, I'd suggest a book to teach you the OS basics would be more helpful in the long run than just having your hand held finding your sessions.

I'm on a Mac but this should work anyway. After you launch PT from your desktop go to File and click New Session. It will then ask you where you want to save it and will create the related folders.
