Udate PT 9 to 10 Question

säp folks,

Here's my q:

Using PT9 HD without dedicated HD hardware here. So its PT9 + expansion production toolkit. Do I have to purchase the PT 10 update or am I good with regular PT 10 update?

THX allot

You've got HD ilok auth, so you need to purchase the HD update.

Yeah 867,51 € from HD 9 to 10.

I cant do this not while I m studying. Guess my first sequencer purchase also the first to be stock w.
PT 10 has got some nice additions but charging people that kind of money after v 9 had a lifetime of 13 month is downright barefaced.

Not even my college has updated one machine that runs PT to 10 yet, its a very short timeframe. Conclusion: In reality 9 was a 8.5 which got updated str8 to 10

thx,
I m not into iloks anyway mine isnt registered yet, as I m installing the machine now...

I did. It was a slightly sarcastic remark. The difference between the 2 is that they're different ilok assets, so one can't update the other.

The op has bought into a work around scheme that was never intended to be sold that way, and hence is stuck with the upgrade price aimed at professionals running full HD rigs. He can't really bitch about upgrade prices when he's only running a semi legal system.

Semi legal, c'mon now it's a niche thing not even grey zone.

I could tell u about half legal things ragrding this that proffessionals use to do but I dont rank blatant talking out one's butt is to be considdered very smart.
Now face2face may be a different animal

Not 100% sure what you're trying to say here....personally, I don't think Avid really care if anyone separates an iLok asset from it's hardware, and sells it separately.

But if you're doing this, you can't really bitch about having to pay more to upgrade than those using the regular version, any more than someone driving a mercedes can moan that servicing it costs more than the person with a Ford. It's your choice, you should know before purchasing that it costs more to update an HD license than it does a regular PT license (2 secs on the Avid store will tell you that) and you can't really complain when you can't pay the same as everyone else.

Well separating an iLok from its software - I assume - is what you mean. But it aint so important.

I m rather wandering around in fog crying about I never knew this would happen as I travel London....than bitching @avid. They get alot of bitch and whether correct or incorrect its another topic as also not that important...

My question has been answered, thanks
