Exclamation Anyone running PT on Win7 x64 and have a MOTU MIDI interface?

Alrighty,

I have a MOTU MTP AV USB, I just installed the latest drivers, and the damn thing STILL isn't doing the business!

I'm running PT HD9 on Win7 x64, overall the system is rock solid, NEVER a hiccup, let alone a crash.

The MIDI ports of the MOTU are available in PT, but when I set the input of a MIDI track to a MOTU port and record-arm the track the meter stays at zero; it is not receiving MIDI data... but the light is flashing away on the MOTU unit telling me that it is receiving MIDI data from the keyboard.

Can anyone shed some light on this? I suspect that the latest MOTU drivers are STILL not sorted out properly.

Many thanks,

I have windows 7 64 bit with PT9 and use a Motu 896 as my main unit into pro tools and a motu 2408 into that. I have literally never had an issue with my set up. I know this is a stupid question, but did you get the drivers straight from Motu's site?

Thanks for the reply.

Yes, I got the drivers from the MOTU site.

Then after much digging around, I finally found THIS ROM for upgrading the firmware. It was not easy to find!

So I have ordered the ROM containing the newer firmware, $20 to buy it, $80 for shipping by USPS! CRAZY. But what the hell, it's worth a shot, otherwise either my unit is futzed or the MIDI interface drivers are still not up to scratch.

Either it will work or it is officially a doorstop. Worth the $100 to find out? After spending that amount on the unit, I think so.

I will post back with how it works out.

You said you set the input, but do you also have a valid output assigned on the MIDI track? Also, check in Clockworks to make sure there's no routing, mapping or muting going on. The mapping should have its own channel selected i.e. channel 1 shoud have box one selected etc.

Yes, I did all of that, but clockworks was acting funny, not saving settings and such.

I downloaded and ran MIDIOX, which confirmed that the MOTU was not working properly, no MIDI data was being received by the computer.

The new firmware ROM arrived today, which was very quick, thanks MOTU, I'm impressed (even though the $80 shipping seemed pretty damn excessive).

Here's hoping it will sort it out, I'll know tomorrow!

They also act up when the battery is weak or dead.

The battery on the motherboard? Crikey, I hadn't thought of that. I'll check it out, thanks for the heads up.

Well tie me to a tree and call me Susan, it worked!

I popped the hood on the MOTU, dropped in the ROM with the new firmware, stitched up the patient, booted up and voila!

She's working like a champ. A bit bloody late, but she's working.
