PT10/Mac OS X 10.7 - Cannot create file.

Hey guys,

Having a problem with PT10 v10.0.0 on the MacBook (everything is fine and dandy on the PC).

Once the loading window has closed I get slapped with this message:

"Could not create a new document because Assertion in "/Volumes/Development/ws.Ludwig/AlturaPorts/DFW/MacBuild/../Views/Umenu.MacOS.mm", line 1350?"

I've followed the information given on the DUC forums, but it's still not happy.

Could not create a new document...?!?!??!!! - Avid Audio Forums

I'm running it through the M-Audio Fast Track Ultra 8R if that makes any difference.

Also, I've just started the download on the v10.0.1 patch. Hopefully that might resolve the issue. If not, does anyone have any ideas as to why this may be occurring?

Repair disk permissions.

Seems like a lot of trouble with OS 10.7 has to do with altered permissions. Hope this helps.

Same problem - fix

I ran into this same issue, PT 10.0.1, 2.3GHz i7 Macbook Pro late-2011, 10.7.2. Errors opening pro tools and when trying to open new session.

I found that this solved the issue: http://akmedia.digidesign.com/suppor..._Mac_75091.pdf Page 19.

1 Quit Pro Tools.
2 Launch Audio MIDI Setup.
3 Choose Window > Show Audio Window.
4 Select Pro Tools Aggregate I/O.
5 Click the Minus sign icon to delete Aggregate I/O.
6 Relaunch Pro Tools.

I had this, turns out that for some reason ProTools was trying to start using my usb camera as the default audio device (I had just connected the camera to use SKYPE. To fix it I started ProTools and held down the n key and chose my regular apollo interface which solved the problem.

Holding down the "n" key while PT launched, as Andrew Soundman, suggested helped me. I was able to then tell PT to not try to use the built in mic input as the output and could use the default output (since I like to edit tracks while travelling). Unfortunately, americanryan's way did not work for me.

Had the same issue this morning after using a bluetooth headset. The fix was to select the correct interface from the setup/playback engine menu.

I can change the engine by holding n. But I have to select pta to get pro tools to even open. Then once inside I can change it to my mbox mini and it auto restarts and everything is fine. But I have to do this EVERY TIME! I'm having tons of issues too. With my ilok and this startupdigidesign crap I'm calling avid tomorrow because I just got this for school and it's broke
