Semi-official HDx Plugin List

Since I have to check plugins for clients rolling over to HDx all day, I figured I'd put up the ones I know. Add to it, correct my errors and lets make it as complete as possible.

Popular HDx Plugs
Compatibility Chart

Interfaces
Apogee Symphony I/O: Q1 2012 should see a firmware update that allows for HDx and HD Native support.

Legacy Digidesign I/O(192, 96): Works with PT10, but no support for PT11 (doesn't mean it wont work)

Lynx: Will work with Mini digilink to Digilink adapter. PT11 uncertain.

Manufacturer Plans
Abbey Roads: Send them iLok and they will give you free RTAS

Antares: 64 bit AU available (AAX DSP speculated for quarter 1)

Crane Song: AAX available in version 2 paid upgrade.

Digidesign: AAX planned or available for all DIGI plugins.

Line 6: Uncertain

Softube: Free AAX and RTAS upgrades V1.3.4

Trillium Labs: Trillium is owned by Avid, so we speculate that AAX will be available.

Waves: Planned AAX support (rumors flying). All plugins available in RTAS. WUP and pricing uncertain. Waves 9 to have no iLok necessary and 64 bit support (maybe AAX)

Specific Plugs
D = Digidesign, planned port or already ported.

R = RTAS available

Thanks for this info. Perhaps add a key for AAX DSP vs. Native?

Last I heard on the DUC re Amp Farm ( & Echo Farm), Avid say Line6 own the code and it's up to them to port it to AAX.

Line 6 (depending on who you speak to) either say it's discontinued or it's Avids problem....

I've changed the format. I suppose its more valuable to know what manufacteres are planning for current users of their TDM or RTAS plugs, so as the manufacteres hit me back, I'll update this list.

Some are offering free RTAS for TDM users, others are creating new version of their plugins that include AAX versions (paid upgrades). Some are giving 50%-70% discounts for their plugins.

Anyways, if you guys have the inside scoop on some of these, let me know, I'll put em up.

Well, UAD plugins use UA's proprietary DSP, so I am assuming DSP? Unless I am missing something

They won't be AAX-DSP i.e. they won't run on HDX cards, they'll appear as Native plugins in Protools and will only run on UAD hardware. Just in case that isn't obvious to folk who don;t already use UAD plugins :-)

ive been ping ponging back and forth from pro tools 8 to 10 depending on which client i have in. today was i our official move to 10hdx.....
the end result was our writer canceling.
his reason was no AAX plug for AutoTune.....
this is a real pain, so im hoping that Antares will have somthing soon.

I emailed them re an upgrade path last week for my TDM AT they replied, yes we are working on an AAXDSP (Yay!) , but could not confrim a release date until they were ready. Upgrade pricing/paths would be similar to their current policies.

Sonnox were supposed to be releasing AAX DSP EQ and Inflator end of March but so far it hasn't appeared as of now.

Fingers crossed as I use Sonnox so much just a few of theirs in DSP format would really get my card going!

Eleven AAX DSP is apparently on its way as well. Thats' a big one as apart from Softubes we have no DSP amps right now and the whole low latency with amp sim is a big plus of a dsp based system.

I feel in a few months HDX owners will start to see a better situation as McDSP etc start to join the party.

STILL no dsp vs. native key? This list would be a lot more interesting and useful with that information present.

Pro Tools HDX without WAVE.... will kill both!

I just returned a new HDX2 system because nobody told me, I CAN'T use TDM in PT10 with HDX-cards. In fact, I have got the feeling, nobody says it loud and clear: Waves will never go for AAX and so Pro Tools will not make sense anymore. I believe there must be at least hundreds of pro-users like me who spent a lot of money into waves TDM-bundles and WUP and are willing to upgrade their pro tools system again and again but right now it seems times of pro tools are over! and by the way... times of waves either! I really want to know what is coming next!

You spent over $15k on a system without looking into its compatibility? The information is easy to find.

Waves has not said definitively they will not support AAX DSP, but even if they never do, many people making money making music (including me) would be fine with alternatives to Waves.

I plan to upgrade to HDX in the next couple months and sit on the hardware until more plugins are available.

i think waves is just playing it cool. they will embrace the 64bit aax technology without a doubt.
i to am very annoyed by all this but thats what you get for being on the bleeding edge.
i do love my HDX rig. the I/O sound really good. i like them just a little better than my apogees....never thought i would say that !.....
but damn!!!! i need real time auto tune. im losing clients. not that i really care too much as they will come back but im sure that many are hurting over this.
