Thanks for the reply and help TRS! I tried a bunch of different variations of pressing the N key while starting up Pro Tools but the closest I got was the Playback Engine menu came up during the start up. If I hold down N right when I click to open PT it gives me the 'ProTools did not shut down correctly last time, restart' error message...

It may be different on Windows - I would do a clean un-install re-install and re-install your drivers too.

TRS thanks for the help, but I obviously tried that before starting a thread... I'd hope everybody tries that when something as weird as this is happening...

After you take care of those, then you gotta do a rain dance, sacrifice a goat, while chanting o-num-shi-by, over and over again, until the computers heart is in your hand, still beating. Then you'll be alright

Spoken like a true, inexperienced, uninformed Mac fan boy. Great to see the pros spreading more innacurate / bad advice around here.

You seem to me to be inexperienced in running professional digital recording systems on Windows computers. A joke it may have been, but one with a very strong, loud and clear implication of the perils, as you see them, of running a professional digital recording system on Windows computers. I was just pointing out that in this case your professional advice was inaccurate and misleading to those who may be looking for such advice. I RT plenty FManuals, thank you.

snoooooze.....please spare me this borefest about WHO I AM, BLAH BLAH BLAH I won't be pulled into an argument over WHO I AM.... gear pimp, or toilet bowl jockey, whatever, You don't know me...You think you do....I don't know you from a hole in the wall, so I got no business saying anything about you, or your character, or attacking your postings, and opinions. And so what if my joke gave you a good indication of my preference, staunch opinions are allowed here, so far as I can tell. I don't sell Mac's or PEECEE's, so what does that tell you....???? Maybe next time, Instead, How about a reply saying... "well Adam, I certainly have little to no issues or gotchas with my PC hardware, and here's why"...????? How about that????? If anyone took that above post as "professional advice", on deciding what computer to use for Pro Tools 10, or anything other than checking the PT manual for Window's optimizations, I seriously hope they fail miserably. It was just a post on gearslutz...no need to get all worked up, and furthermore...I'll say whatever I want, to whomever I want, whenever I want....Terrible Jokes or helpful advice, I do not care. ..Let Jules and Crew ban me for my pitiful inexperienced mac biased humor then....

Anyway, to address your points, superfluous question marks aside... 1) I did not attempt to pull you into an argument over who you are. I don't think that I know you and never implied that I did. I made no comment on your character. I merely stated that you are a professional equipment salesman, which you are, and then stated my opinion that you prefer and promote Apple computers, which you do. 2) When you post on Gearslutz, it is not "just posting on Gearslutz". You use this forum in a professional capacity, to give free advice to people who are looking for such advice as a part of your strategy to generate sales. You are of course not the only one who does this, but there are many examples of you exhibiting this behaviour here. 3) I don't mind that you and other professional equipment salesmen use this forum in this way. In fact, I have gotten a lot of very useful information from many of you right here over the years. But I do mind when professional equipment salesmen give bad advice and spread misinformation on these forums. Before you reply to this post please take a deep breath and take note that I have been entirely civil and polite and have not attacked you, your character or your opinions. If this went over your head, read my post again, nice and slowly.

| True. But beware if you are used to working on Macs, the rain dance has to be really really quick on Windows! ![]() ![]() Alistair
