Just made the biggest purchase of my life

This week I picked up a Lynx Aurora 16 LT-HD, Pro Tools HD Native Card, and a Mac Pro 2.26 Mac Pro. This is my "big push" purchase to increase our clientele and improve my overall recording and mixing experience. We are still running a Mix Rig with a G4 and 888/24 converters, so I'm expecting a huge improvement in performance and sound.

I've saved up all summer to get this set up, but I think it will pay for itself in a short time. We are getting ready to replace our Soundcraft Ghost with a refurbished, 16 channel Quad 8 console with a ton of history (original in Jack's Tracks and was used for the recording of some classic Don Williams and Crystal Gayle albums) and this will breath new life in the studio.

I'm thankful that Avid has given us the Native Card option, and Pro Tools 10 has a lot of great features that really pushed me over the edge (thankfully I order my HD Native card to ship with Pro Tools 10).

Full speed ahead!

congrats! While I can't speak for the Lynx or the Native card, the 2.26ghz 8 core mac pro is a great computer.

Thanks guys! I don't think I'll get everything by Thursday morning when I have a 3 day tracking session...but fingers crossed because I'd love to put it though the paces!

Just purchased this same rig (minus the computer) as well! Congrats. Let me know if you have any bugs with the auroras. I won't be able to test my rig out till late november/early december and since purchasing have read that avid changed the native HD cards a bit so the Lynx hd cards are not compatible and have sample rate synching problems. Kind of scared at the moment about the whole thing...

working on the exact same rig for about 6 months now and absolutely love it !!
tons of power, low latency when needed, almost no crashes ....

The only issue I am having is when you change form a 44.1 to a 48 session,
I am getting a error like "ProTools has detected the number of interfaces changed", which disappears after restarting ProTools 2-3 times.

Anyone else is having this?

I've heard about the changing sample rate error, but it sounds like it's not too difficult to work around. I don't think Vintage King or Sonic Circus would continue to sell them as a "bundle" if they weren't working nicely together.

Considering I paid $2000 for the Lynx with HD card, the inconvenience is worth the huge savings over buying an Avid I/O.

The sounds great. I'd love to see some pictures of the quad 8.

I'm still in the process of recapping the whole console (it sat unused for almost 20 years) but once it's back to life I'll take some pictures.

Congrats on the rig. I've got a HD2 Aurora 16 LT-HD rig...works great.

Lynx tech support is fab, they actually answer the phone. Hopefully, they'll figure out a tweak for it.

Very cool and the best of luck. A Designs Pacifica which is farly well reviewed, is built alonge the idea of a Quad 8.

this really isnt a fix, but all I have to do when I get "too many interfaces" error, is restart protools and open a 192k session. THen when it boots up that session. close that session and open a new one or the one you were trying to open before the error. I keep a session called 192k Lynx fix saved with no audio and on tracks so it loads super fast and the work around is pretty fast.
