On price, direct from Avid appears to be about £500 and £1,500ish for the upgrade package. Though it appears to be on DV for £430.

I for one, will definitely be jumping ship from Logic.

Looks like the roof is getting blown off for all the PT naysayers.......once and for all. Avid's not only been listening, they've been working their asses off!

MPowered crossgrade price

MPowered crossgrade is almost £100 more than LE crossgrade... so even though I paid probably more than £300 for the MPTK2 for MPowered, I actually get less (relatively speaking) for more money than someone running regular LE. Hmmm...

Any money there'll be plenty of haters anyway.

I think they're gonna clean up with this one personally.

Everything went better than expected!

I'm very impressed by this. Literally everything that I've wanted from the HD software is becoming available for my home version!

Does anyone know if the current Complete toolkit is version 2? I have the CPTK, but I can't find any verification of this, and there isn't an upgrade option for CPTK 1... can anyone answer this for me?

Nice. And the price is quite digestible. Win/Win.

If you've got the authorisation for CPTK 1, you will automatically have the auth for ver 2.
Basically, buy PT9 and you'll have full HD functionality, natively, with any hardware you like (including none at all), for the price of the crossgrade.

protools 9 and ilok

so does this mean that since PT9 is authorized from the Ilok I can install PT9 on both my Laptop and Mac Pro from the same installer? Just curious.

To use TDM (DSP processing, super-low latencies, etc, you'll need the HD cards, but other than that no, it doesn't need any hardware to run the software itself (other than an iLok).

With the exception of MIDI functionality, I would be $hitting my pants if I was Steiny right now. They are probably PISSED over at Steinberg HQ!!! "Oh No!!, they started listening to their customers!!! NOW WHAT DO WE DO"

Good on Avid for finally listening and acknowledging their customer base, I hope they are rewarded with huge profits so they can continue down this path of "openess"

No. The HD Software that is bundled with HD Systems including Native can be run without any hardware and upgraded to from the standard Pro Tools box with the new Complete Production Toolkit runs without any hardware.

The differences, if memory serves, are a 192 track count, VCA mixing, advanced automation, 7.1 DTS mixing, and something I'm forgetting.

Just glanced through the Avid site, but some things still could be clearer.
I have an HD1 Accel system... So if I upgrade to PT9, I would get the following:

-Voice count up from 96 to 192
-Can install the HD 9 software on my laptop and run it with the same authorization and no interface

Is that right?? Missed the press conference.

Also, any word on whether HEAT will be included in the upgrade to PTHD 9 software??

Yes. But you can install the HD software on your laptop as well with nothing plugged into it. Awesome.

Also, for those of us with HD PCI / PCI-X core cards, we're still in business! Magma chassis or Windows 7 support, Pro Tools 9. Sweet. Thanks AVID, for not leaving us behind =)

Heat is TDM only, so is still tied to HD hardware. Think of it as a feature of HD.

Looks like te hardware determines the level of features the application allows ( and the iLok).

So beefed up LE on any hardware. HD featureset when Native or HD cards are connected.

... And CPTK2 upgrade option to get the in-between area!

?? Sound correct ??

Awesome news IMO!!!!!

Here's what I want to know:

Trim automation in PT9 standard? (I know VCA automation is not)

Import Session data still worthless like PT8 LE? Or do they include all the options like HD?

Sample rate limit? Or track limit based on sample rate?
