2ndMOUSE - Safe in the arms of Skynet ? ( + remix comp )

http://soundcloud.com/2ndmouse/safe-in-the-arms-of-skynet

Originally appeared on my "AURORA" album .*

I'd like to open this up to other artists to remix. If there is enough interest in the track , I'll find some way of uploading the stems to a password enabled cloud folder , and you can download the stems and see how you can reshape it , remodel it. Would be great to hear how others would interpret it.*The aim would eventually be to put the best tracks on a compilation either on the cupboardlove records label that I release on , or through my bandcamp page.*

Anyone up for this ?*

Would aso welcome your ideas about how to host the stems ......im thinking dropbox or something similar , but im open to other suggestions and ideas

123 views and no-one says a single word ?

This leads me to think
A) my track is crap because no-one can be bothered to say anything.
B) my track is brilliant and everyone is speechless

Nice welcome. Thx.

Did you actually get 100+ listens, i had over 200 views to a similar thread but no listens, didn't take it personally - found it odd.

So unless you've had loads of listens dont take the lack of comment as a comment on your music. ill check it out tonight if I remember

Same here dubmonkey. Lots of views....very few listens.
I'm happy to give thorough , detailed feedback to anyone who listens , but the apathy is deafening here. Cant be helped i suppose , since the scene is completely oversaturated now . Heck , my gran is a dj now !

Will return the favour.

Pretty standard here, as well as on other Internet forums. Don't take it personally, it just probably means that your track was ok, not really great or really bad.

It would of course be great if every track posted would receive tons of advice on how to make it better, but that just doesn't happen in real life.

So it's good as it means only a few people chose not to comment rather than 100s. the scene has been oversaturated for the last 10 years... Im lucky enough to have got 40 listens on a track - getting stuff out there is very hard

It feels very self-indulgent to complain , and I know there are a million other musicians , but i know how much I obsess over what I do , and how much sleep i've lost / deprived myself of , in order to do it , and I know not everyone can say that.
So , if it seems self-indulgent for me to complain , its because I'm extremely passionate about what I do to the point where ive forgot to eat and drink.
When the net becomes oversaturated with tracks that sound like they took 20 minutes to make , made by those whose skills are best suited to plumbing , or car mechanics or something , it makes it impossible for those of us who are really trying.

I know its not just here. It seems to be on all boards. There are just far too many people doing it now , and like money , the more of something there is in circulation , the less value it has. I feel like packing it all in right now.

You should do it cos you love it, if you are doing it to compete then yeah its gonna be a bitch of a struggle

ok so this is not my kind of music - i like it, waht i don't like much is the beat - it's slightly too loud, a bit flat and a bit boring - contrasted with the rest of the track there's lot's more going on and would want some rhythmical variations and maybe make the ambient percussion louder (or turn hats and snare down). i like the little glitches and stuff but think the main beat could be better.

as it is it would work in a computer game, with a more bombastic drum track it could be more soundtrack quality.

oh and voice may be too loud too

take all this with a pinch of salt, i don't have golden ears, much exposure to that genre, any releases of merit or a decent monitoring system - all things worth considering when anyone gives you feedback (so it personally wouldn't bother me if my mum didn't like my new tech-dub tune through her iPod earbuds for example )

Cool track, definitely would be suited to a video game. Really like the bass line how it starts, would suit a heavy industrial techno remix. I'd bring up the kick or layer it with a sub, and the pads are a bit much for me all the time, they seem to go on just a bit too long in at times. I tend to prefer it when its stripped back, the bass line can shine through, etc.

Sidechaining is one of the areas im least proficient at . I'd like to bring out more sub in the kick but the way its currently set up , it pulls the volume of other things down when I emphasise the bass too much. I wanted the bass to be prominent , and to duck the kick only slightly. I agree with you on these points. The chords take away the techno-ness of it. I tend to like the stripped back parts the best myself , but im a sucker for melody and find it hard to make something that holds a listeners interest if there is little or no melody. I admire people who do minimal well . Restraint takes skill too.
