I suppose it could have been shorter. I'm from that generation that used to dj (with vinyl) and enjoyed having long tracks in the mix for quite a long time which is where I think my tendency to make long(er) tracks comes from...like Robert Hood 'The Pace' (9.07) Played over Maurizio M5 (9.30), heaven!

6+ minutes is standard for this type of music. About a minute from the beginning and the end are used for mixing the track in and out by the DJ, so that leaves about 4 minutes of effective playing time. Which is about perfect for the dancefloor. A great, hypnotic track can easily go on for a longer time.

Or at least this used to be true, maybe the youth today are used to shorter tracks and faster transitions.

Loove this a lot! The compressors sounds just perfect. Good variation and perfect length.

On the other hand, how could I not love a track by someone who mentions Maurizio and Robert Hood, e.

Wow. I won't bore you with my opinion of people who speak the type of shite that you do.

Samples, I see you've been insulting people all over this forum. Dubtek already called you out for ripping off other peoples work and posting it as your own.

Track length is perfectly appropriate.

Actually relatively short for a dub-techno track.

seriously?! wow. what a wonderful person you are, samples

anyway... i really like this. i'm not familiar with the genre (closest i've come is Miles - solo stuff by one of the fellas from Demdike Stare) but this definitely makes me want to hear more.
i love the subtle shifts in sounds and textures throughout - you could have gone on for a couple more minutes and i would have been perfectly happy!

neil.

Thanks all!

macmurphy I'm not familiar with Miles but I'll be sure to check him out. If you're interested in some essential listening I can recommend Intrusions 'The Seduction of Silence' as a nice staring point. Also all of the Rhythm and Sound releases, all the Deepchord stuff......
