Looking For Feedback - Ed - Goes To Space - Deep House/Techno

Hi Gearslutz, i'm looking for feedback for my new track:

http://soundcloud.com/ed_1/goes-to-space/s-G1fJL

I'm pretty happy with it sounddesign/composition wise, it's going in the direction i'm aiming for, hypnotic yet melodic with a certain psychedelic taste...
but i'm not sure at all about the mix, how's the Bass translating to your speakers? I tend to do very deep basses that aren't quite hearable on home systems, but are too loud on PAs.
Also, would you do something more arrangement wise? I'm always unsure that my stuff is too loopy with not enough changes/breaks/fills, although this kind of music doesn't necessarily require that...
Any other suggestions/critique regarding the mix and arrangement are welcome!

So no comments mean either

1. This Track is perfect, it changed my life. After I heard it I quit my job, left my wife and went living in the mountains. No Internet up here.

or

2. Total bullshit. After I heard it i had a serious nervous breakdown. I landed in the psychiatry, the men in white don't let me use the Internet.

I'm still pretty interested how it translates to your systems.

like this track. funky hypnotic groove. the samples give the repeating hook a nice small "change", so it doesn't get boring.

Can't really tell about the lows on my crappy ear plugs. But the bassline (sounds like a deep tom) seems too loud.

I could imagine that more filtering the arpeggio synth up in the break would spice it up. Then after the break climax take out the pad lead sound. Just the arpeggio synth plus beat plus groove. Later you might come back with the pad lead sound. Try it with one octave higher and a high pass, so it just sizzles on top of everthing.

PS: I could give it a listen tonight in the studio, but then I'll need to download the track.

Hey, thanks! Yes, the Bassline was an attempt to make a Kickdrum in Tyrell, but i ended up playing it as a bassline. With "after the break climax" you mean the part from 4:10 onwards? Sounds interesting, i will try it.
I made the track downloadable, i think i uploaded it as a .wav. Thanks for listening!

Got the track, though as mp3, not wav. It's 320, so that's ok. I'll have a listen.

Yes, I meant the part from 4:10

Nice track. It is indeed hypnotic I'm listening on headphones (AKG 702) so I can't really critique the mix much. But it sounds good. I like the arp-ish build in sound at 1:33, cool . Personally I would like a little rhythmic variation in a few places in the first part before the breakdown to keep the interest. A drum roll or two here and there. I'm a sucker for drum rolls. I like the breakdown. Cool tune. Overall I dig. Nicely done sir!

Nice track. Builds well. Solid groove. Big. Anthemic. I like it.

If it was mine, I might add a bit more subtle variation in the form of lightly tweaking env decays, reverb mix, cutoff (maybe too obvious - but some kind of subtle timbral/dynamic change) etc over the course of the track. But that might mess with the hypnotic thing you have going, so grain of salt and all that. The big structural changes (arrangement) works well - I guess I'm thinking more, but just a little, variety between when the big changes happen. Maybe.

Listened to your track in the studio. I love the lows, but they may be too low for the club. If you can test it in a club, check your lows.

The open hihat is left panned, which i didnt like.there was nothing on the right side to balance out. Try to have a open hihat spread to both sides or put another sound to the right side.

Not too loopy for me, good dance music is supposed to be a little hypnotic.

I like the sounds, especially the atmospheric fx samples.

Personally I want more in the break, more melody, stings or something to add to the tension. Then I want more percussion elements when the beat comes back so its slightly different than before the break, up a notch, etc. I might try and drop the rez bass when it kicks back in for 16 bars too. Lastly I would keep the main kick in till about the 7min mark. Just my 2cents!

Thanks guys, already working on some of your suggestions. I dropped the Big Bassline (it's from the Waldorf Pulse btw.) for the drop, and it works surprisingly well. I will probably bring in some extra percussive element after the drop, maybe something to contrast the open HH on the left.
