Looking for multichannel desert ambiences

Any pointers? The only ones I can find are part of a library that I don't want to buy, I'd rather pay and download individual files...

I think you will have to construct them. I've been to deserts during the day and the night and what you hear is either silence down to a degree that you only hear you blood pulsing through your ears or you hear the wind moving either the clothes you are wearing or the gear around you.

So below the line it's very clean wind.

Try the BlowTools lib and construct it. WIll get you closer to the illusion of a desert in a film that a real recording would.

librarywise, those effects are hard to come by in libraries. i recently worked on a project that had a lot of desert scenes. not much in libraries were fitting so i had to go out and record my own.

Hi, any chance of hearing them and see if we can work something out?

Hey Pethenis,

I have a pretty large library of desert atmos that includes over 60GB (192kHz) of various wind types and open air recording. Are you after anything specific?

Eilam, that sounds like a very nice collection. my day recording only yielded a few good recordings. Although many lessons were learned. i would like to go back soon since desert ambiences can be very versatile.

I have some very good 5.0 desert atomoses. Some have only wind blowing and others have cicadas or minor birds.
Recorded with DPA5100 to SD788T
