Edinburgh Recording Studio

Hi GS Post Folk

I am looking for a high-quality studio for a VO. Its for an a-list actress so it needs to be all-pro in all ways.

Thanks for any tips!

Cheers,
David

They've been going for a long time, and do a lot of voice work. There are pics of the studios on the website so make up your own mind. Edinburgh doesn't really have any mega luxurious studios, but I think you would be in good hands here. They do a fair amount of advertising work so are well set up for client care.

Hi Rob - thanks for the tip. That looks like a good shop. Someone pinged me about Cannongate –– have you any experience there?

Cheers,
David

Hi David,

No direct experience with Canongate but they are similar in size, location, history and client base.

Al is the main guy there, Max at Red.

Hope it goes well.

Used Red all the time when I was based in Glasgow. Max is a good guy.
Cannongate was patchy mainly due to staff changes
Pricewise Red id about £150 and hour. My old company is Savalas in Glasgow. Much bigger and broader experience than any of the facilities in Edinburgh.
Never a big deal to have talent come through from Edinburgh - its an hour train trip
www.savalas.co.uk. Depends on how much you are doing. Adr got to Savalas, quick Vo then Red

Just a followup in case somebody down the road is looking for a good studio up north...

We wound up doing this in Inverness because our actress was in that area. We used the Muray Firth Radio studios and had an excellent experience and highly recommend them if you are in that area.

In future Castlesound.com is the top studio ths side of Scotland. It's output (the only thing a studio can be rated on IMO) is always excellent.
