Is their a cheap way to Expand the projectmix to 5.1?

I just need 5.1 outs.
the projectmix has only 4.

But it has SPDIF and ADAT.

If I get the PJ I will have little left over for any good rack gear.

Or is the PJ just not suited for 5.1?

SP-DIF and ADAT will limit your resolution, and you will not be able to output 24/96 5.1 over any consumer digital connection except HDMI.
I would suggest that interface is not adequate for the task, myself.....for 5.1 you need better than 4 line outputs. Do not skimp on this though - it is a false economy when all is said & done.

Neilwilkes, you are absolutely right, but there's no other way to output 6 or 8 channels from Projectmix except the ADAT and SP-DIF outputs. Besides it must be cheap in this case.

neilwilkes the most I have ever used was 44.1kHz/24 bit
Im not working in pro audio, just wanted to setup my rig with absynth and 5.1 outs.

I have never used 24/96 so im limited if I use ADAT to 48 kHz, 24 bit?

I am super low end, always will be.

I had thought about the Alesis master controller surface, interface. MasterControl Complete Studio Interface and Control System

I read " ADAT optical interface supports up to 8 channels at 48 kHz, 24 bit"
I might want to just link the projectmix and the m-audio firewire 410 with ATAT @48 kHz, 24 bit?

Thanks.
