From Logic to Pro Tools

Hi Guys,
I have accepted a mix that will take place in december or january.
The project is edited on Logic but I'll be mixing on Pro Tools.
Is there any way to convert the Logic session into a PT session?
Worst case scenario will be to export each of the Logic track as a wave but there might be some more convenient solution.
Any ideas?
thx

Try to export as an omf file with handles...

I didn't know Logic could export omfs. I'll check that out.
Thx man!

Yeah, Logic exports omf's but I've had some problems in the past with the omf in pro tools. You should do a test before getting the reels

Years ago I gave up on Logic's poor OMF implementation. Maybe it's improved since, I don't know. But we go from Logic to Pro Tools all the time, and we do it reliably with "export all tracks as audio files". Carefully choose whether or not to include automation and plug-ins, and also take a Standard MIDI file for the tempo map. This process is fast and painless. The only downside is that any bad edits in Logic will be consolidated. But keeping both apps open on the same computer is no problem.

If it were me I would much rather have .wav files that all start at 0:00.

This way all you have to do is just import audio and get to work.

My Recordings/Credits

Logic has a function "export all tracks as audio files", done, it's MUCH easier than the Pro Tools "consolidate"

I wouldn't mess with the OMF files. You usually lose all of the automation data (one of the many bugs with OMF) and to import OMFs into pro tools you need Digitranslator which is 500 dollars..

Unless you have version 9 or later, which no longer requires Digitranslator (thankfully)

Omfs shouldn't be a problem because I use them all the time with pro tools HD. So on that side it should be ok. Thing is, I'll have to try it before as NReichman said, because the problem might come from Logic.
Otherwise I'll have the second idea that you guys mentioned with the "export tracks as audio" ;-)

Not all omfs are created or read equally and you can be lucky or unlucky.

as insomniac says, if your thinking of going the omf route you would be better off just exporting all tracks as wavs.

From memory there are a number of export options out of Logic/Pro such as FCP xml, OMF, OpenTL & AAF and each have their strengths and weaknesses.

Other than not converting track names, strangely enough, the old OpenTL format contains the most detail in a conversion to PTF.

Sure rendered wavs are the simplest and easiest way to get your audio to another format but that is no good if you still want to maintain individual clips, automation, markers, etc, etc.

If the OP wants to test a few formats he can contact me via the AATranslator web site and I'd be happy to run a few conversions for him eg;
OpenTL, OMF, AAF and/or FCP xml to a PTF

Biggest problem I see on track exports are clipped 24bit files from 32bit float source. That'd be my only advice.
