Thread Starter | Hospital ambiences / sfx
Hi all ,
I'm looking to gear up with some new libraries or trades with other editors for an upcoming tv doc that will cover history of a medical clinic (in a hospital).
The history goes deep over 100 years, so various time periods and technology will be helpful. I have a couple of weeks to prepare but I have a very short editorial time once pic locks.
I have generic and overused basic hospital BGs but will need many of this nature for this. I want to amass ambiences and sfx for my sound palette before going into the edit.
Can anyone recommend some libraries or does anyone have some stock willing to trade?
Thanks kindly!
Matt

I've searched online and collected a little handful but still need a more significant selection. Does anyone have any to trade?
I may end up just building things from elements like footsteps in hallways , PA systems, beeping machines and sickly human sounds.
I'd really like some vintage stuff for the history moments though.
Bump!

It's always good to search Freesound.org - Freesound.org. Though there is a lot of poorly recorded stuff, I always find something interesting/usable.

Make sure you have The Machine That Goes PING!
Actually, you should look up the history of EKG, heart monitors and the rest. That beeping didn't happen until later, like the 60's/70's. I did a film with a Hospital from the 40's. No beeping machines. So try to come up with some historically accurate sounds. Of course, if the Director wants the machine that goes ping!, well.....

Hollywood Edge or Sound Ideas has a library called "Emergency."
You'll find a bunch of hospital sound effects in there including EKG, ventilators, etc.
If it were me doing the post, I'd also search my library for different small machines, pneumatic sounds, gears, mechanical noises, etc. You're probably going to have to use your best-guess for what these machines do and the sounds that they make. But the great thing is that the majority of your audience members won't know the sounds that they make either.
Get creative, have fun.

Hey Matt, we've got a ton of hospital sounds on our online library that you probably haven't heard before... Pro Sound Effects
Many are backgrounds, and then you can, as Ronin1973 suggests do a search for "Emergency" as well.
If you'd like a code for five sounds let me know (can I post something like that here?)
cheers!
