Post Production Store - London, UK

Hi guys,

I need a recommendation please. I am looking for a postpro/audio gear store in London, including friendly and helpful staff and good customer service. I need to buy and take a look on products from Rycote, Sound Devices etc. A local store where staff have experience and know what they are talking about would be highly appreciated.

Stores I have been to are either specialised in a different field (millions of guitar and general recording stores around Charing Cross area) or lack of friendliness and/or knowledge.

Cheers,
David

For the gear you're looking for I'd rather check out production sound stores and rental places like Richmond etc.

It's not really post-production gear you're looking for (SD, Rycote etc.) but location sound gear.

Yeah sorry, I actually meant location sound recording gear rather than post production.

Thanks for the advice though!

I can recommend Funky Junk:
Home : PROAUDIOEUROPE - Europe's leading suppliers of new and used Proaudio equipment
Give them a call to see if they can help you.

Edit: Just saw the replies, Funky Junk don't do so much for location, but give them a call anyways.

Richmond Film are also great, I've dealt with them a few times:

There aren't really stores as such for location recording. You need to go to dealers like Soundkit, Pink Noise, Everything Audio, maybe Creative Video. Visual Impact may be best in London. For Rycote it's often best to speak to them direct. You can do a lot on the phone with knowledgable people.

Thank you all for your help. I actually talked to Rycote in the morning and will check out the mentioned shops as well.

Good to know about Richmond Film in case I have to hire stuff for bigger projects.

Cheers, Dave

The guy who runs soundkit.co.uk is great (I think he's called Martyn) he's really helpful and un- patronising. I bought a lot of stuff from him a few years ago and he was happy to have several lengthy phone conversations to make sure it was right for me. I don't know of anywhere in London where you can actually go and look at location kit before buying it.
