Virtual Katy messed up reconform

On some projects when reconforming using VK, we get "ghost changes", that's a change where no changes actually occurred.
Even when comparing two versions of the same edl...
I have yet to find the causes.
Edls exported using Avid MC v6.
Problems occur on both cmx3600 and file16 edls.
Using the same edls on there are no "ghost changes"

Have anyone experienced this?

I'm seriously considering changing to Editrace. But Editrace with its web interface is a bit clumsy and not quite as simple/intuitive to operate. Otoh, when the changelist is done I can use ETA to reconform PT and ETA+Quickeys to reconform Nuendo. I have to jump through hoops to do the same with VK.

Have you checked that there weren't any VFX for shots that were used? It could be small things like inserted titles or colour corrected shots.

No, VK finds changes even when I compare an edl "with itself" (identical copy)?!
It does contain some effects info (slomo shots) within the edl. But obviously they are identical in the two versions. Perhaps that is messing with vk reading the edl.

I stumbled in this issue when doing a "proper" reconform that had generated changes where there where no change in the edls.
Very disturbing.

EDL anomolies? VFX updates usually cause these - Conformalizer by maggot software has tools for dealing with this

yes, conformalizer has a lot of "grey" logic for dealing with VFX, slowmos and other avid FX.

I'm on a show right now which is mostly VFX and changing daily.
Conformalzier catches 99% of VFX shots and even flags the updated ones so you can check them out visually with the pix loaded.

ErikG give me a shout if your demo ran out already and I'll see if I can reset it.

Great customer service to!
Justin any chance you support file32 edls? I have yet to try if you do, but file32 seems to be the best of the stoneage edls

conformalizer can handle source names of any length.
and usually the clipname notes line is the better option in any case.
