It's nice AVID also adopts the new technology BUT ( as many other manufacturers currently supporting Thunderbolt ) they don't understand it's a daisy-chain system!!

Having a Thunderbolt interface which is blocking the only Thunderbolt port I have on either my (non-retina) MacBook or my Mac Mini so I can't even connect another display is not a choice for me...

Let's hope the new Mac Pros have 15-20 Thunderbolt interfaces if this trend goes on ...

Best,
Flo

Does somebody know if you can daisy-chain the HD-native after a thunderbolt HDD or a thunderbolt hub?
This would solve the problem.

You can put it after anything you want, but it doesn't solve the problem that it should have 2 ports. And using it with a hub is extremely redundant. Needing a breakout box (hub) for the breakout box (HDN) for your I/O? No thanks. As mentioned above, it's a daisy chain system, Avid screwed the pooch with this one.

Not to mention, you can get a Thunderbolt PCIe breakout box from OWC or Sonnet for under $400 which have 2 TB ports, plus still have the option to take the card out and put it back into a computer if you want. More flexibility & better connectivity? Sold!
