Copyright question regarding demo reel

Hello, new poster but long-time reader...

I am a recent graduate with a 4 year degree in Audio Production, and now I'm trying to get into the field of sound design. Obviously a demo reel showcasing my skills and abilities is pretty necessary for potential employees, but here's my problem: the only sound design projects I have are either former school projects or animated videos I pulled from youtube and then redesigned the audio. To give you an idea, I have a video from Pixar, a clip from Wallace and Gromit, and an MTV logo clip.

In order to legally use these clips in my demo reel, do I have to obtain permission from the copyright owners, or would it suffice to give them credit on the reel? Realistically, it seems highly unlikely that any of these guys would give me permission to use their video, even if it is just for a demo reel and not incurring any sort of income. If that's the case, how did you guys get material for your demo reels? I feel like I'm stuck in a catch 22.

No one is going to want to see/hear what you think Pixar should have done. Focus on the 'former school projects' if they're original productions. Watch Mandy.com and others for 'student film' projects and jump on those. Usually no pay, but you always get to put it on your reel.

or you can go to a video game mod forum. They are a lot of mod games being made that need sound design done
