Anyone using Eucon on System 5 (+PT 10)

Hi Guys.

There is anyone here with enough experience using a Hybrid S5, i.e.
fully controlling PT 10 with a System 5?

Is it possible to access all functions of pro tools from the board, like automation commands? Eq and Dyn plug-ins like Channel Strip, aux sends, pan`s, etc...

I used to mixed on a System 5, but sometimes I got small projects where I do pre-dub on my studio, doing only the final-final mix on the theatre. Until now we don`t properly set or have the opportunity to use the Hybrid option. Now I`m starting a project I want to do that way, full in-a-box mix, with a fast final mix at the dub stage.

In the need to maximize the time available and keep all the pre-mixes unrecorded, I`m researching how to work that way. I will have everything set up on the session, routing only 3 stems to the S5, or at least just one 5.1.

I will be glad if anyone could share some experience in this matter or some draw`s back.

my kind regards
ricardo

Yep you can get into all the features from the surface. Plugins will map too the encoders and switching automation modes can be done from the desk.

I've ended up using the EuCon with PT10 more than the System5's processing on the last few mixes I've done with 'em.

Hi RKelly, thanks!

Is it possible to access "Preview, Punch Preview, Capture and Punch Capture" on PT from the board?

Yes these functions were implemented with pt10 and Eucon 2.6.2.

I am just wondering, are you planning to use the system 5 dsp at all? If not, another good solution would be to rent a studio with a system 5-MC. It would be cheaper and by mixing in the box you would keep complete compatibility with your studio. With PT 10, All automation features and Pro tools menu are available as eucon commands. Every command is already assigned on softkeys (on the MC PRO) but you can copy and paste softkeys for the features you use the most where ever you want.

1º - I`m not after the ideal controller, but how to fit a specific workflow to some "ideal" room;
2º - there aren`t any room at Rio, with MC Pro;
3º- I`m a long time comercial partner of that particular studio. I rent their room, they hire me as mixer, etc...
4º - This is a very good room, Dolby certified, with extras gear like 480L, 300L, System 6000, etc...
5º - We are after a properly cinema mix stage, etc...

thanks for your input.

I see you have many really good reasons to go with the system 5.

Have fun!
