What is an approriate format for a post reel?---beginning internship

Im trying to get an unpaid internship in NYC at a post house.
They want me to put together a reel of some audio work.

I definitely have a number of different songs, collages, instrumentals i can use, but im not sure what or how to put it together.

Because this is for an internship, its obvious i have no real professional work, im just looking to get my foot in the door.

Can i just string together some different ideas and put them on soundcloud?

Or should i have links on soundcloud to different pieces?
Should I include the experimental noisy rock stuff i do? or just more movie soundtrack, commercial sounding ideas?

thanks, really appreciate anyone's help on this

A post house isn't going to care about your music recordings. In fact, usually it's a red flag for them to not acept you.theyare not interested in people who really want to be doing music.
when I interviewed for one of my first post gigs, coming from a music background, the owner of the company repeated several times. "we do not do music here. You will never be recording music here".

ok ha, point taken

They do sound design and music though for commercials, tv, and film

I found this link:
Kyle Vande Slunt | Audio Cookbook

Is this something that i should strive for?

Interesting they asked for a reel. Most post places I applied to a while ago could care less about a reel. They mostly look for someone who is reliable, competent and above all, really wants to work there. A basic knowledge of their preferred DAW certainly helps, but I'd suspect a history of reliability (via previous work experience in whatever field) would take priority over your current ability to compose a tune or create a whoosh sound.

I guess ill just blend some commercial sounding work together and link it to soundcloud?

Any ideas from anybody else,
This is just for an internship, not a real job
