Six track stereo

Hey guys,

Just had the following international deliverable request for a trailer I mixed.

6trk (5.1) Stereo Final Mix Master – final mix configured L/C/R/LS/RS/SW

Does that mean an LtRt? Or is there any other way of creating the above (not including Dolby e)

Cheers

N

I'd say that's an incorrect definition in itself. Since 5.1 stereo does not exist.

Thanks that what I was thinking, but not having delivered international trailers before I wanted to be sure before going back to them.

I think it's a throwback from the time where Dolby Stereo was the norm. Sound more like a typo to me than anything else.
When we deliver we now do every stem and mix in both 5.1 and stereo, so that all bases are covered.

Thanks, makes sense and have given them everything so there can be no comeback..... Unless they ask for Dolby Stereo :p

In could also mean 6 track interleaved - all channels in one file. "Stereo" just being the most common interleaved format.

"5.1 stereo" does exist, as does 10.2, 64 channels, whatever........

"Stereo" derives from Greek 'stereos' meaning solid.......it doesn't mean "2 tracks"

Thanks Bill, yes that does seem feasible. I've emailed them anyhow to ask exactly what they mean by it so I don't have to create every option and maybe cause confusion down the line.
