where to find a sample of strings pitching up

Hey, I have been searching for a sample cd that has this pitching effect on it. The sound is strings pitching up and is commonly used in horror films.

the latest snl digital short uses it at 1:07
Lazy Sunday 2 SNL

I have attempted to make this sound myself with synths but it just doesn't seem to have the same effect.

your help in much appreciated.

You can automate any normal string sound to do that. I'm at work so i can't tell you which automation track it is. Not transpose...probably the pitch setting. Draw in whatever speed and amount you want

I would load up at least 3 instances of a tremolo violin ensemble then just record the parts with only a slight amount of pitch mod-ing per track. Don't forget a nice hall reverb to give it an orchestral vibe.
Kontakt is more than realistic enough to do this (not saying Kontakt is my fave in any way)

great information!

I'm going to check out the boom library and maybe I need to look into getting a sampled string library so I can attempt to do it on my own.

are there any other sample libraries that I should maybe look at?

thanks,

Dave
