Wow, this stuff is wicked. Depending on how CPU-hungry it is, it will, sooner or later, end up as a standard part of my dialog strip. Boom to roomy? lavs too dry? A touch here and a touch there.... BAM! Done and done!
Although there still is HUGE market for rtas out there. Eventhough with PT 10 (and 11 on the way). Not everyone and not all studios will be jumping on PT10.
But this is something I have been looking for sometime and if it does what I see in video demos, then with some tweeking I can use this a lot.
Will be keeping my eyes on this as to when the aax comes out.
Yes, we're aware that a lot of people will probably stay on PT 9 for a while. Still, for a small company like us it's probably not possible to invest into a deprecated plug-in format that has a big count-down-timer attached to it like RTAS....
Post people will demand RTAS for at least another 2 years IMO. We are still running PT8 HD on a G5 in one of our suites and it still brings home the bacon and it's rock solid. Lots of multi room post houses are on the same boat. There's little reason to upgrade working systems.
If I had to choose one format to port to I would go with RTAS cause it still works.

I hear there is this UNVEIL plugin coming out in AAX format.
Seriously though how little sense it makes to me to develop AU versions of plugins before AAX or VST versions, developing an RTAS plugin now makes even less sense for a small company with limited resources.
There is also another consideration: Do you really want video editors to have _every_ tool you have?

Actually, have been dealing with this myself, and it turns out, it depends on how you start your compile project and the libraries you use. Then, once you code your AAX, the RTAS version can be built at the same time. So, it shouldn't take that much more effort to make the RTAS.
It is possible that there'll be some sort of promotional offer when VST & AAX Mac/Win become available, as we see no reason to put non-AudioUnits users at a significant disadvantage..... I'm afraid that's as clear as I can be on that at this point
Great video.
Still can't understand why they didn't do an RTAS version first, as they would hve sold a ton first day out. As I've said before here, most post studios are still on PT's under 10. Mostly 8 and 9. As a developer, I would have built for teh biggest market first.

No, havent watched the video yet
I was more interested in someone who has actually used both, in a real world mix.
At the very least, Unveil does what I can do using a combination of Transient Designer, C1 or C4 expander, and some EQ, but in a fraction of the time. But while the combo method can be pretty effective at reducing room ambience, Unveil also brings the desired audio forward in a way that I haven't ever been able to match using other processors. The 'Focus' control really does what it says.
How do current owners accomplish the update? I only see the demo version available for download on the site. Will that work if we already have an authorized version?
If you allow UNVEIL to access the Internet, it will detect the new installer & offer to download it. If not, or if you don't want to wait for the admittedly very infrequent update check: write me an email and I'll send you a personal download URL.
We're currently coding a backend that allows users to download their installers at any time using their name and/or email and/or serial number, but its not quite finished yet.
