Sound devices 788t timecode output question re: XL-LX cable

Hey there,
Have been using the 788t for a while now, need to do a shoot soon with 2 red cameras.
Going to hardwire timecode to both cameras since they have snakes going to each camera anyway, + heard the red cam's timecode gets pretty slutty (all over the place)

I was originally just going to get made a Lemo 5 pin from the 788t to a male XLR to a high quality 4 channel line level splitter (from location sound used for timecode duplication) then out from there to the two red cams... but then I came across these sound devices cables

Sound Devices XL-LX - LEMO-5 to 3-Pin XLR M/F XL-LX B&H Photo

Now i'm confused?, this is really the only timecode cable I could find they make.

Can I use this to go to my line level splitter, and leave the female tale hanging off?,

Is this cable used for slaving and mastering?, i'm just wondering do I need to terminate either or whether it's slave or master on the 788t???

Sorry, i'm new to time code, so just prowling for answers :-)

There's more to syncing with video cameras than this. The only way to keep two RED cameras in sync with each other, let alone with an audio recorder, is to genlock them. It is not enough to just send TC. The standard method for doing this is to jam-sync two Lockit or Denecke SBT boxes to your (audio recorder) TC (in free-run), the connect one box to each camera, BOTH TC and tri-level sync. The RED TC clock is notorious for being very inaccurate compared with the clock in your 788, it will drift off a jam within minutes. If you were using only one camera you could just run the 788 TC off the TC output of the RED, and the camera and recorder will drift around together. But with 2 REDs you really need the Lockit boxes. You will need the cable you mention--mine has a 5-pin Lemo on one end and one-each male and female XLRs on the other, TC in and out. You will need other cables to connect the Lockits to your recorder (to jam) and to the REDs--the simplest thing to do is have whoever is renting the cameras to the show provide all this. Any rental house that rents REDs will understand what you are asking for.
