RME FF400 + Asio4all

I don't do a lot of recording, it's all edit and mix here.

That said, I like as much latency+CPU headroom as possible.

Nuendo5.5.2 64bit+FF400+asio4all will yield a 148ms (7104 samples at 48k) hardware buffer. I've stress tested this and and I can easily get a couple hundred tracks with EQ and DYN on every one along with 8+ reverbs and full screen video playback on a TV.

Killer..

But if I want to make any money, I need to use protools. I can't seem to get any of this hardware buffer extension stuff going with PT10+FF400+asio4all. I actually can't get any sound at all yet.

With out asio4all, I can do some semi large stuff in PT and have some head room at the default 1024 buffer.. but I'd really like to open that up more.

Any ideas?

Yeah, rely on RME drivers and delete ASIO4ALL.

I do "rely on RME drivers",

and it's very fast

but thanks for reading carefully

I'm looking for a way.. if possible.. to extend the hardware buffer between protools10 and rme past 1024 samples in a similar way that I've done with Nuendo.

Unfortunately PT only allows a small set of buffer sizes. Their ASIO implementation is limited.

2048 is the largest buffer size I think.

Maybe you can sell your PT and make some money
I'm considering selling my CPTK now that the DIGI has screwed the DVTK upgrade, and the CPTK prices have skyrocketed on the ebay.

HA!
I paid full price for mine and I'm in too deep already. I actually have a decent amount of power as it is right now.. but it's not even close to Nuendo native power... it's like an 1/8th at best. Bottom line is that there is nothing actually stopping me from working.. I'm just a studio geek and want to push it.

And yes, I pulled "1/8th" right out of my ass, but that is what it seems like.

As a pro that uses both, why do you feel you can't make real money using nuendo? Surely you can produce the same quality results just as fast workflow dependent. Does a client really know what you are working in? Sell them with your work , tell then you have Pro Tools and deliver an awesome mix from nuendo, they will be non the wiser

I probably should not have said the real money comment.. was sort of a sarcastic overstatement.

I split my time between my room and other people's pretty evenly.. no one else has Nuendo so I can't work on things during downtime or after hours when I'm out in the world. Sometimes that is the only way I get stuff done on time.
