Congrats to all the nominees. And I know a few of our crowd worked on them so congrats to THOSE folks for the recognition. Nominees - The Oscars 2012 | Academy Awards 2012 My prediction of Tin Tin getting nominated was incorrect. (shrug) And now, let the 'big contest' begin. I'm personally an "it's an honour to be nominated" guy so, again, congrats to everyone involved on those pictures. And who's this Rydstrom cat? New kid on the block?  Jeff

A little self-promotion here, wanting to mention Agnieszka Holland's In Darkness (up for best foreign film), which we mixed here at Theatre D in Toronto last year. It was a real honour to work with such an esteemed director. Daniel Pellerin supervised. It was a mammoth task as the film was shot in 5 languages we didn't understand. He and the sound editorial team got a Genie nom for their hard work. Congrats to Mr. Fleischman, Mr. Hensley, and the other nominees for CAS/MPSE/Oscars awards!

Indeed, congrats to all nominees! Also, to throw my self-promotion hat in the ring. One of the live action short nominees, Time Freak, was sound designed/edited by me and mixed by the great Paul Hsu at C5 here in NYC. I count myself incredibly lucky to have worked on such a great project with some very high class talent. Best luck to everyone! |

Just found out that an animated Short ("Wild Life") was a National Film Board of Canada product and foley was done locally. Nice! Jeff |

I guess it had to be a good edit (and score and mix) because I really didn't notice much about 'Drive'. Mr. Bender and crew are great at what they do and the whole thing "just seemed like a movie" to me, which in a way is the highest compliment, no?
