Sound and video sync help

Hi peeps

I have some audio I did for a part of a film, this was an old uni assignment, and I need to sync them up. I no longer have the old PT session but do have the master sound (wav) file and the video file. I just need to sync them back up and export it as one video file. I will want to put it online and possibly later do a DVD for it.

Anyone know what software, hopefully freeware, that will do the job. It is such a small task that I really don't want to spend money I don't have

Regards

Why not just do it by using your ears and your eyes or is this some 128 track ProTools masterpiece that you are trying to recreate? I guess I really don't understand if you have the .wav file and the video file why can't you just do this manually. If there are some additional factors please elaborate.

If you have the PT session, why don't you just open up the session, sync up the video and master audio file and bounce to QT?

Is there something we're missing here? If you give us some more info, I'm sure we can help.

If you dont have access to PT to do this you could probably just use something like VirtualDub to resync the vid and audio files together and export.

Quicktime Pro -

1. Open existing movie up with Quick time Pro.
2. Click window (top of QT player) and go to Show movie properties.
3. Untick the audio track, then click Remove selected Annotations.
4. Click file (top of QT player) and select new player.
5. Drag new audio file...wav / mp3 into this new player.
6. Click edit (top of QT player) and select all...then click copy.
7. Go back to original Quick Time player with movie on it.
8. Set your bottom markers to where you want the new audio to sync up and click edit and add to movie.
9. Now you should have the original QT movie with the your new audio track synced up at the point you placed the start marker.
10. Now I would just click file (top of QT player) and click Export, and adjust compression settings to suit your needs. Obviously pick your own destination folder.

Have QT Pro but it won't play an xvid file or H264, keeps asking for additional software

Download a trial copy of Sony Vegas or Adobe premier. Or just use Windows movie maker which you already have.

What format is the .wav file? It should playback fine.

Found a solution, VideoPad Video Editor. Free for non commercial use. Simple little program that seems very stable.

24/48 I suspect that may have been the issue. However the program I just mentioned is a much more elegant solution than Windows offering.
