Thread Starter | Multiple Videos on One Track Display Issue
Hey, I've got a problem with multiple videos on one track displaying at different sizes in the video window. I have a 5 reel session open where reels 1, 3, and 4 display correctly, but reels 2 and 5 will show up much smaller up in the top left corner of the video window. The videos are exported as DV in quicktime but in the information window show exactly the same aspect ratio and pixel numbers. The Pro Res versions pre-export do not have the same problem, but export settings have not changed. Has anyone else ever had a similar problem and know a fix for this? Thanks |

Hi, I have experienced a similar issue, where the fix was to create another video track for the video instances that displayed incorrectly. Of course, this means you need to manually shift the active video track when you cross the video boundaries, but it should fix the problem. Hope this helps, Christian |

Hi creatixdk, I forgot to mention that we have been doing exactly that to temporarily solve the issue, but we are trying to figure out exactly what it is that is causing it in the first place. It's just the type of thing we would like to avoid when we have clients in the room and have things to worry about other than switching between which video track is online. |

I don't know if this is exactly related or not, but I've had issues with files that were re-exported or reconverted using only Quicktime to do the conversion. Stuff like where the Quicktime info bar is displaying the frame size and frame rate are correct, but Pro Tools is giving different readings. I've found that when I use Compressor or MPEG-Streamclip to convert the files instead of doing it in Quicktime the results always work. There is something about converting stuff using only the Quicktime application itself that is jittery. |

Seems like QT is interpreting the video files differently. If you have QT Pro, open up your video files and check the movíe preferences ("Window", "Show Movie Preferences") - click the presentation tab and see whether QT is conforming some of the reels. |

I think it's is because the video window is scaled to the highest resolution clip in the track. i.e, if you have a 1280x720 and a 640x360 in the same track, the 1280x720 will fill the screen and the 640x360 will only take up the top left quarter. -Richard --- Just read where you said they have the same pixel numbers. If that's really the case then I don't have an answer. What I wrote above is consistent with my experience. Though I use MpegStreamclip to do my conversions since I was getting unusual framerate problems with QTpro. Maybe QTpro isn't setting the pixel count right either. -R |

It seems that Quicktime is conforming the reels to the "clean" setting. I will try turning the setting off and seeing if that fixes it. Thanks for the help! | |
