Thread Starter | Fashion shoot camera sounds in 2011?
What kind of sound do these new digital SLR's and flashes make on a shoot today? We have the old-fashioned 80s sounds in our heads (and libraries), but what is the reality now? Any library suggestions? Thanks.

Yep. Click of the mirror / shutter and flash system confirmation beeps. You could insert auto focus beeps from the camera if you want to get detailed but....... I always turn mine off. ![]() Amazing how some of the higher end cameras' shutters are actually quite a KAChiKkk loud! (compared to my Nikon D90) But as always..... Reality and film/tv sometimes don't mix. Ask the client what they expect to hear...What's real for THEM? Jeff

Actually it's the mirror that's flying up that makes most of the sound. The shutter is not all that loud, and of course, there's not much film winding going on now... The flash units will have the rising squeal as it recharges, and then there's the CSI sound - sort of a smashing-head-of-lettuce sound...

Thanks guys. I ended up doing something more impressionistic to blend with the music (heavy eq, Waves MV2, plate reverbs, bass thump...) which I think matches the vibe more than a realistic sound. But the client might very well come back wanting the real thing.
