Thread Starter | G729 ?
Hi all. I've got a client that I record telephone prompts for. Historically, I would encode the final WAV files with the G.711 codec using Goldwave. Recently, they requested I encode them using G.729. It doesn't appear that Goldwave supports that codec and I'm having a difficult time finding an application that can facility the conversion. Do any of you guys have any experience with G.729 and / or know of any software I can use to make these files? Many thanks. Jim |

Hi Jim, The G.729 codec is one of the most popular voice compression algorithms used in VoIP. G.729 operates with near toll quality using a very limited bandwidth - 6.4 kbit/s, 8 kbit/s or 12.4 kbit/s. Normally I use Switch Sound File Converter from NCH. You can convert to many formats and some of them have various codecs. I rebember I have the same problem a few weeks ago and I converted the files to CCIT Alaw or CCIT Ulaw, but it depends the device of your costumer. This soft is very easy to use and includes batch audio converter to convert thousands of files at once. Best Regards, José Raposo Sound Station, Lisboa |
