Pro Tools 9 and Mojo (non-SDI)

Hi guys.

We have an iMac running PT9 LE with an Mbox Pro. We just got a second hand Mojo and would like to use it for video out. All our projects are exported for our audio post as DV PAL QuickTimes and should work, I believe.

The Mojo displays a garbled image, but the image it's supposed to display seems to be there. All we did to activate it was select Firewire Video Out. I can't see any settings for the Mojo anywhere within Pro Tools.

Can anyone tell me what I'm missing and how to set this up properly?

Thanks,
Bjarki

I believe you need to have the video encoded using the Avid DV codecs, not just the vanilla Quicktime DV. You should be able to download these codecs from Avid's website.

You also need a dedicated firewire bus. Aren't all the firewire busses on macs connected? I know on a macpro you need a firewire card to run drives and other firewire stuff while the Mojo is connected to the internal firewire bus. I'm not really sure the imac's firewire bus can handle a mojo. If I where you, I'd try running a USB drive while using the Mojo on the internal firewire bus.

QuickTime DV works fine from memory, as for the separate bus issue, yes ideally you'd have it on a second bus, but the data rate is so low, it's fine on the same bus, exactly the same as the Canopus ADVC-100/110 was. A Mojo isn't a resource hungry HD device.

Check the system profiler to see if it is being detected on the Firewire bus. If not, restart with the Mojo turned off and then turn it on once the OS has loaded.

Are you coming out of the Mojo component, composite, or S-video? The settings for this (and NTSC/PAL) are on the I/O section of the video track if it's size Medium or larger.
