Nasal congestion ADR...

Anyone have luck with any reduction of an actor's clogged nasal passages (sinus congestion) in ADR? (meaning electronically and not holistic methods, haha)

Sigh...
(I've been telling the director 'not really' but that I'd ask around, so here I am...)

Hahahaha, that's exactly what another actor said
"Dude, you should send him home to see if he has a neti pot!"

You must have some fabulous eq! I have never heard eq change a person's voice or clear nasal cavities. Human hearing is very practiced in that way.

You have never heard EQ change a person's voice? Hunh. Interesting. While it won't magically clear out completely clogged nasal cavities, it can have a palliative effect.

Granted the attached is not the worst cold I have ever heard, but I know this VO talent's voice very well, and he definitely was recovering from a cold that day and his voice was a little tired. He even asked me if it was audible. I said it was, but I would be able to clear some of it out.

Ok, well, I guess. I dunno. To me one sounds brighter than the other but I hear the same amount of "stuffy nose", which is not severe in either version. He still sounds like he has a cold to me but I see what you mean, the eq gives a sort of "lift".

You're right, it is not a magic cure, but it is better and sounds less (though still) like he has a cold. Client didn't question it or need a re-track. Normally, I barely have to EQ him. So, as I said, it helps, and I have had luck lessening the honk.

If you want something to make sound like he never had a cold when he had a terrible one, it ain't gonna happen.

JFriah may be stuck with another ADR session.

Minister may be correct...

Thanks for the suggestions, folks. Yeah I thought trying something up around 3-3.6k and going from there. First, gotta cut sync!
