what is your favorite sound effect for a "ting" kinda sound, the kind that is used when a graphic element in animation shines for a moment?

I usually use a simple bell sound or a sword "shing" sound, but I was looking for something a bit more...interesting?

Perhaps tapping a wineglass or Champagne flute with your fingernail, or a triangle hit. (Hit? What do you call what one does to a triangle?)

HB Medallion Flash.

Kinda over-the-top, but still classic.

In addition to the above suggestions, i'd layer something that's deeper and more resonant, like a low tuning fork passing in front of the mic. I couldnt tell you why, but light/laser visuals frequently have that oomph in films.

Reversed sword ring from being bowed or struck, and some Nord Lead stuff.

Carefully controlled feedback. While riding the level on your studio monitors. Wave a mic in front at varying speeds and distances. I've gotten great results with this using a LD Condenser. Edit the stuff you like and mix in some standard metal scraping for sword stuff.

Forgot to mention plying with EQ will give more control and playability.

sounds dangerous!

I hope anyone who does this would wear industrial strength earplugs and make sure nobody else is in the room.

But It does sound interesting, i have some feedback samples I'm going to try to blend into the mix.
