My guess is that the new Mbox pro still isn't going to have professional outputs (+4). I do like how they gave the Mbox Pro ALL balanced outputs, and basically has a monitor controller built in.

Gotta love the FW400 only port, seeing how Apple has dropped the interface!

Would have been nice to see both 8 or 4, or like the MOTU's both USB and FW

Apogee still only has 400 on the Duet and Ensemble, not as if they'd gain much by putting FW800 on it, unless they made it 16+ I/O (which 400 could handle anyway) - just need a £5 cable to plug in to an 800 socket.

Likewise, if I hadn't got my Duet working with PT seamlessly, I would now be really pissed!

Only other change I'd like to see is a way to bypass the volume control. That way there isn't a second gain stage for 5.1 use with an additional controller. Other than that....It looks really solid, and seems to be a HUGE upgrade.

You got it working with PT? How?

Not entirely legally, wouldn't like to incriminate myself on here. Works better than a Digi interface too.

I use the Duet with Logic for music projects. I'm very happy with the quality of the preamps and converters, especially for the price. I just wish it had digital I/O (other than firewire). I'd love to know how you made it work with PT.

I'm thinking the new mbox pro would make a great interface for an LE based editorial system. It can do 5.1 with CPTK. I've seen it advertised for $629. You don't necessarily need more than +16 outputs in a small room when editing with near field monitors.

I'm not into pre-ordering anything, but I'm with you on the mbox pro. I'll probably pick one up when they come out.

I don't really want to get myself kicked off here. Google is your friend.

Regarding the Avid Pro Tools Mbox Pro (seriously, would it kill them to call it Mbox 3 Pro?!) - shame they don't still work with Focusrite on it. Effectively having a cross between Pro Tools and Saffire interfaces would be very nice.

I still can't call it Avid.

I suggest a compromise: David

I'd say "Diva" suits their attitude more. It's also the name of their own magazine BTW.
