adding wav to wmv

We have converted a Powerpoint to a wmv file and want to add a wav file to it without converting it.

Any one know how to do this??

Thanks

Paul

The two ways that I know are:

1) Using the Cubase/Nuendo Replace Audio In Vid File feature

2) Virtual Dub

There is also Windows Movie Maker, but that requires outputting a new vid.

Cheers.

Seems like an easy thing to do but having no luck.

Still Struggling with what I thought would be any easy thing to do.

Tried a program called visual hub to convert wmv to a DV, but somehow the film drifts horrendously.

Gave it to another studio to to import into Final Cut and he reports back that it also drifts away from the audio.

Importing into iMovie 06 (07 and 08 are not compatible with wmv) and the timing is rock solid, but it looks as if it is dropping frames all over the place.

Any ideas anyone??

Thanks

Paul

since it looks like you're on a mac you should install the perian codec pack and get a copy of QT pro. i'm pretty sure once you install perian and open the clip in QT you can 'export' it as a wav. then maybe you can just work on the audio in an audio editor and recombine with the video later

Thanks for the reply. We have Mac and PC with with Tiger, Snow Leopard, Windows, Vista and Windows 7.

We have tried converting the wmv to a .mov using Quicktime Pro but the quality of the result is very poor.

We also already have high quality wmv and a high quality wav with music SFX and voice over already. We just can't find a program that will join a wmv and a wav file. Seems strange.

You could try this in together with virtualdub:
WMV plugin for VirtualDub

Movie Maker, and output a new movie.

or

Use Keynote to export a new .mov from the Powerpoint and use QT Pro to join the two files. (probably faster to use movie maker depending on the length of the ppt file)

Tried movie maker but the wav and wmv are running at completely different speeds.

Powerpoint was created on Windows7 on 2010, so I wont be able to import that into keynote.

Just reaching dead end after dead end....sigh

OK...on further inspection, I have found where the problem has occurred.

Any conversion of the wmv to quicktime is adding about 10 seconds to the movie (of a 6 minute film)

That is a lot of drift.

So, now the question is how to convert a wmv to a quicktime-DV Pal (to use in Pro Tools) keeping it the same length?

Then, I could import the original hi res WMV and the WAV file in Movie Maker. Thanks for that suggestion Fajita.

Flip for Mac has a way to convert wmv to Quicktime. Not sure about the drift though.
though the free version only converts half the movie file (and you can't chose which half, it's always the front half)

(I would suggest Media Composer, but who has that just laying around)

Unless you save as Office 2007 or 2003, then maybe it will go into Keynote.

Yeah...flip for mac is the program I originally used to convert it. Bad timing problems!

2010 has all kind of new features, swipes, wipes and fonts, which we of course used to great effect.

We would have to re-do the entire presentation.
