Very odd mouse behavior w ProTools

I've been experiencing a very odd problem. So far I've only experienced it when working on ProTools 7.x on a PowerMac.

I do have a Geffen extender on my monitors, mouse and keyboard which I suspect MAY be the problem, but I have not been able to confirm it.

Here's the problem: Occasionally, the mouse will act like I'm holding down the left click button (as if I were about to select multiple regions). It just locks up. Sometimes I can play and stop with the spacebar, sometimes not.

Most of the time I can open the force quit window, then close it without quitting and that unlocks the mouse again. Other times I've had to hard reboot.

Has anyone else ever experienced this?

I also have an Gefen KVM switch (2x2 DVIDL). Recently I upgraded my monitor and was forced to swap out some of the DVI-cables. During this process I turned the switch on and off a couple of times.
After having been on for about three years something snapped in the wall wart.
The power ON led never stopped glowing, but I started experiencing all kinds of trouble, from screen blacking out. Mouse or keayboard randomly stopped responding etc.
It took a while to troubleshoot, but when I replaced the the power supply all was well again.

Not at all sure that you have the same problem, but it might be a good idea to try another power supply.

Good luck

Oh the dreaded Geffen power supply. I've been down that road plenty.

Usually power cycling the Geffen will get you back 9 times out of 10. Eventually you can't take it anymore and have to get a new supply.

Thanks guys...I'll give that a try. I did replace the power supply on the receiver side a couple of years ago, so many thanks for the reminder. These completely random and unrepeatable intermittent problems are the ones that drive me mad.
