Producers not getting Enough credit

I'm not sure if it just me, or is anyone else seeing this?

Seems like a lot of producers (especially in Hip Hop/RNB/POP) known as "the guy that made that beat for that song" and are only credited for being "that Guy" forgetting the fact that he/she is actually the reason that, that song exists and sounds the way it is.

From what I've seen, it looks like amateur producers/artists (me included at a time) and youtube is to blame. How many times have you watched a video, by a so called producer, who claims his job is done after playing some chords on a midi controller and FL Studio. Them along with their "artist" put tracks together simply by recording some vocals over the previously made beat.
Then you have kids on Youtube watching these videos believing that this is what real producers do. (when in that video there was no producer really involved, just a beat maker, and a rapper/singer on a laptop).

Though don't get me wrong, i'm not trying to look like someone important (nothing important about me), ive probably contributed to this mess.

Anyone able to agree with me on this one??

Sure, I understand your concerns, but in this Post Production forum, we think Producers get TOO MUCH credit. This is a TV/Film audio forum. I'm with you on the "anybody with a soundblaster and FL Studio is a 'producer' nowadays" thing though.

I just think you may have posted in the wrong place.

Creating a beat is not writing or producing a song.

If I am watching a video of someone they are the artist, not the producer. The fundamental problem with most of the pop/RnB/Top40 gfenres

WOWWWWEEEEE!!! Now that's a quote.

Haha, I'm just Quoting it; I'm neither agreeing nor disagreeing with that statement at this juncture. We don't have "the fifth" in Canada, but I'd plead it.
