Falsh Bang - ear ring sound

Anyone know how I can make a ear ringing noise (immidiate symptom of a flash bang) I'm doing some minor sound design for a short film and I can't find anything in my library that works.

Isn't usually something like a modulating 2-3k sine wave with a little distortion. Haven't played Modern Warfare 2 in a month or so, but that's what I seem to recall. I could be off by 1/2 a 'k' or so.

I did a remote once where someone set off an M-80 about 10 feet away from us. Since I had a tone generator in the truck, I tried to figure out what frequency I would have ringing in my ear for the next few days.

8.6 k in the right ear and 10k in the left ear and pretty darn close to a sine wave.

Note to self: when doing remotes on or near the 4th of July...ALWAYS wear earplugs.

Thanks for the ideas guys. I really need to slow down typing... I just realized that I didn't even spell 'flash' right.

Is there a way to make the PT signal generator modulate like that?

i just did this a few weeks ago. I record a sign wave, about 3k, added some distortion and reverb. Then, I took all the production audio underneath, lowered the volume, compressed it, rolled off all the highs and put it in some reverb. Came out really nice.

You wouldn't be willing to post an example (mp3) of what you did would you? I think I know what I'm striving for, but having a reference would help.
