OMF avid and cubase 4

Hi I need some assistance in OMF settings

I have been working on a film cut on AVID ( on Mac ). The omf created in Avid imports into Cubase 4 ( on PC ). But my problem comes when I export and OMF and try to put it back on the AVID time line. The error code on avid say " the prodject file does not match the preferences settings " it relates to the bit and sample rate being different.

I have not change the settings in the Cubase session and merely worked with the OMF provided. How do I go about making and OMF that would work in AVID. I'm also concerned with the promt about Cubase sayning that levels might change because of the 32 bit float.

Some guideance would be much appreciated

Regards

Avid will not work with 32bit Float files.

ours all run at 16/48 or 24/48

Just give the editor a 24/48 .wav of the whole mix

Instead of leaving it at "same as project size" change it to 24bit on the export dialog. 32bit float is 24bit with extra top that it borrows from if it needs too. cubase/nuendo are 32bit float platforms, this is why you'll notice that you don't get digital distortion when you bust into the red.. since you're working with material you got from avid, it is likely 24bit already, it's just your cubase session that is set to 32bit - be sure to check with your editor though.

also, not sure if this is still an issue these days but, some programs don't like OMF's that have stereo material in them rather than multi mono.

Thanks guys.

I did notice that the OMF's from avid had "stereo" / 2 tracks per channel of information. I will check the multi mono export setting with the editor.

But that is all I can think of at this stage. I'm going into session in about an 1hour and make contact if I get lost.

Cheers
