Hey guys, I'm doing some post work for a couple commercials... I was wondering what the best way is to get rid of a "hiss" generated from a pre-amp? Also, what's the ideal mastering level for a commercial? I really appreciate your responses, Cheers

Read the ATSC spec attached to a sticky on the DUC, it'll detail calibrating your room for such mixing, however, all specs actually are determined by the destination company (broadcaster or channel), there are rough guides, but always check with them. As for tape hiss... if it's broadband then try some noise reduction plugs, or low passing the top end, or some multiband dynamic expansion like the C4. Otherwise if it's on the dialogue and not fixable, talk with the producer about ADR'ing. |

I myself use good old X-Noise for hiss problems... Good luck! |
