QuickTime bounces from pro tools

Hey guys,

Just a quick question. If you were to bounce a QuickTime movie from Pro Tools at 16/48 of a film you were working on, and then burned it to DVD using Toast, would you expect a drop in audio quality? Does toast compress the sound automatically to fit it on the DVD?

Thanks!

If you told Toast to make the audio PCM, then no. If you made it Dolby Digital (AC-3), then yes, but this isn't recommended in Toast as you don't have very much control over the parameters of the AC-3 encoding.

Are you doing a 2.0 or a 5.1 mix?

(if it were me, I'd take my 6 channels [or 2] into a proper AC-3 encoder and then create my DVD marrying the video and audio. But Tom gave you your quick answer)

"it can always be done"
