Thread Starter | Soundminer Server + Euphonix MC Pro
Been having a recurring problem in my Soundminer Server setup and can't quite figure out what's happening. PT8/Nuendo5.0.1/Soundminer Server/Euphonix MC Pro/OS 10.5.8 Mac and Euphonix are connected directly to a Linksys router - Euphonix receives an IP address from the router (as I understand it). Our facility's network runs through the router as well. This includes all our servers, as well as our Soundminer Server. I can connect to Soundminer Server with no issues at all, and it works like a dream. Until I let Soundminer sit idle for 10 or so minutes. Soundminer does one of two things at this point - either it (a) totally locks up with the GUI going all blank, or (b) when I enter a search term, I get some string error, where SM cannot find the file, despite the fact that I'm still linked up to the server. The other two sound editing suites do not have this issue, as those two rooms have Control24s, and have no routers. They can connect and use SM Server all day long without getting kicked off. I can only assume at this point that the problem is placing the router between the Mac and the network. Any ideas? |

As you may noticed, Mac has 2 ethernets, so I would try to use separate ports for a network (internet, shared disks etc.), and the other one for MC Pro. Kuba |

Thx Kuba - My understanding is that you have to choose one port or the other in cases like this. That is what my IT guy has told me. I will try it out and see what trouble I get into. |

Been in contact with Tech at Soundminer - appears to be an indexing issue that is probably caused by MySQL collisions at the router. Will keep you posted! |
