I have a good friend who is looking for 1/4" 2500 ft audio tape.
Where can I purchase some new stock?
About how much?

Thanks,

ATR Services, Inc. - Your mixes will thank you.

I'd call ATR Services. If anybody would know, they would. I got a couple of reels of Quantegy 456 in Burbank last year but the place closed down and I believe that Quantegy is going to stop manufacturing if they have not already.

Location Sound on Magnolia could probably suggest somewhere too.

Online try Quantegy Audio Store

Marti- you might call the rental departments at Coffey and Location Sound.... they are still renting Nagra's, so they might have some sources for stock....

This is true, but a bulk of the brands/types offered have been out of product for several years. I lurk the tape supply and surrounding shelves on top and underneath looking for lost/ stashed or forgotten gems. The pickings have been very thin of late.

In regard to any Ampex/Q tape types the floodgates of old forgotten back of the warehouse(s) tape stocks were opened and dropped on the retail market after the factory closed their doors.

With most places holding Ampex stock have a no return/refund policy it is a crap shoot if you choose to buy it.

That being said Ametron is still a fairly good place to find tape accessory bits and bobs. Though at full retail pricing.
